Joseph Matthews Racing

The Pontiac Drag Racing Team, Joseph Matthews Racing, approached me to design a logo that would identify their brand both as an individual racing team and as part of the larger Pontiac brand. This posed a unique challenge, as I needed to incorporate the classic Pontiac logo while also referencing teams car itself.

To begin, I examined logos from other drag racing organizations to understand their stylization, noting the common elements of motion and bold, traditional racing text. I then closely studied the provided pictures of the team's car for any distinguishing features I could reference. I eventually identified a small emblem on the front of the car featuring two flags waving in the wind. This emblem perfectly conveyed the motion I wanted to integrate into the design and served as a subtle nod to the original Pontiac branding.

Combining these elements, I created a sketch and submitted it to my client. After making a few tweaks to simplify the design, we finalized a logo that exudes a classic racing feel while seamlessly incorporating the required Pontiac branding.

WiseMind Counseling & Consulting

Creating the Wisemind logo began with a straightforward request: use the colors blue and orange and take inspiration from a poster of a brain on the client's wall. I was immediately drawn to the intricate ridges of the brain depicted in the poster and saw potential in subtly incorporating the company’s initials into these ridges.

I experimented with various orientations of the brain and provided my client with marker sketches of different options. Together, we decided that a profile view of the brain offered the most striking silhouette. Using illustrations of the brain, I focused on simplifying its shape without sacrificing legibility.
